Baochem runs business of coal tar processing,
chemical trading and R&D. With progress made in high-tech and
high-value-added down-stream products exploitation, it develops in
line with the expansion of Baosteel¡¯s core business. After January
2004¡¯s merge of Meishanchem into Baochem, it now possesses two plants
respectively in Shanghai and Nanjing, and totally processes gas, tar
and crude benzene in quantity of 2.8 billion cubic meters, 60,000
and 150,000 metric tons. With its production of 830,000 metric tons
various chemicals and registered capital of 2.11billion RMB, Baochem
ranks first in the coal tar industry in China.
The company has a list of products numbered more than fifty, such
as refined gas, benzene, naphthalene, phenols, quinoline, oils, coumarone
resin, ammonium sulfate, carbazole, anthraquinone, pitch coke, carbon
black and so on, which are widely used in architecture, pharmaceutical,
pesticide, plastics, and tire industry.
Positioning at serving Baosteel¡¯s core business and down-stream processing,
Baochem expects a healthful expansion accompanied by satisfying pay-back.
At present, Baochem is pressing home its advantages to incubate new
profitable business with a serious entry threshold of Updated-start,
High-tech, Excellent-quality and resource-saving. Business recombining,
resource re-allotting, and strategical planning are all on the way.
It is estimated that by the first quarter of the century Baochem may
join the top three in global tar industry through projects implemented
stage by stage.
